What Are Your Challenges Trying to Teach You?

Recently I found myself puzzling once again over a personal challenge that I seemed to come up against repeatedly.  Do you know those problems that you just can’t seem to find a solution to?  So I decided to sit down and tackle it from another perspective.  I decided to figure out, what is this issue trying to teach me?

Here’s what I did…I wrote out what I was experiencing, when it started, what caused it, and finally…and this is the bit where I had to do some work…what was it I had to learn from this situation?  It worked.  Through this exercise I was able to get some clarity; I wasn’t exactly happy but at least I now understood why this challenge kept cropping up for me.

This method can be used on any problem, challenge or issue you are dealing with and on any obstacle you are facing in any area of your life.  Listing the what, when, where and how may seem easy but don’t dismiss it because even sitting down and doing that can bring some clarity.  But being willing to look at the situation to find what deeper issue you need to become aware of is where the real gift lies.

What can you learn from the challenge or problem you are currently dealing with?  Perhaps it’s that you need to be willing to compromise or accommodate others more?  That you need to be more trusting?  That you need to act with more integrity?  That you need to take more action in your life or be more creative?  That you need to be willing to ask for guidance and accept help from others?  Or that you need to be open to different outcomes rather than stubbornly refusing to consider anything other than what you want.

No matter what the situation there is a gift in it for you, you just have to find it.  It could be teaching you patience, inviting you to discover your creativity, helping you to become organised and structured or asking you to be more flexible and adaptable.  Whatever it is, be willing to uncover the gift and accept it.
